Meet Sophie

Hi, I’m Sophie, the face behind The Reel Stool Company.

The business began in 2024 in my sitting room. I was looking for a circular pouffe for my dressing table and some extra seating for around the house, but I couldn’t quite find what I wanted. So I decided to see if I could make one myself.

My husband came across an old cable reel and suggested it might work as a base for a footstool or pouffe — and it turned out to be perfect. With my dad helping to strengthen the reels and cut them down to the right size, the idea quickly grew into something much bigger, and The Reel Stool Company was born.

Since then, I’ve expanded the range to include rectangular footstools made from reclaimed pallets, and I now work from my own studio.

Sustainability is at the heart of what I do — I love giving unwanted materials a new life by turning them into unique and beautiful pieces for the home. Wherever possible, I also use offcuts or recycled fabrics to keep my products as environmentally friendly as possible.

Alongside making footstools and pouffes, I also offer other upholstery services. Please do get in touch.
